I first did the Ham Radio course when I was about 17, I’m 71 now!, but I never used the course. I met my wife at college a couple of years later, we’ve been married 50 years.

I was mainly studying for my MRGC (Marine Radio General Certificate).

I spent approx nine years working as Radio Officer working on Cargo ships with my wife travelling with me

Then we started a family, and I went into IT and I got an OU degree.

Now we’ve retired, the kids have families of their own, I finally have a chance to return to Ham Radio, along with amdram, and Ukulele playing!.

Our son bought me a VHF/UHF ham radio, so time to start studying again.

I still remember my Morse code. (It’s SX in the music for the course).

So only fifty plus years since I first did Ham Radio.

      Jon
